bad credit apartments

Question:
I really need assistance. Bad credit apartments will not let us move in, and we need to get our son out of here.
I reside with my parents right now and they are horrible drug addicts, and they have started doing drugs near my three month old baby. I warned them that my son isn’t going to grow up that way so they are throwing us out. My future husband has horrible credit and no bad credit apartments will take us even with a very large security deposit. He has no evictions or bad rental history. I need to get him out of this place. I do not want to go to a shelter, but I will if I need to. what should I do?

Answers:
A landlord might take a risk with you, but you will have to pay a very large deposit though. You will need to call around quite a bit and explain your situation with your credit history to the landlord. You will need to try going to private landlords since they are sometimes much more forgiving about past credit history. Big apartment complexes have a certain standard, and they are usually never flexible with poor credit and evictions.

Furthermore, you should check out your community and check if they have “Community Action”. It assists families in crisis like eviction or water/electricity shut-offs. You need to demonstrate both a financial and safety need. They just might put you up in a hotel or shelter for women with kids until you find any bad credit apartments. You would need to find an apartment that accepts a voucher from them as they would pay your first month of rent. Contact your local welfare office to check if there is a program such as that for you.

I am sorry that you are going through all of this. I certainly hope there are better times for you and your child. I wish you good luck.
