Bankruptcy Bad Credit

Question:
Can one become a police officer with bankruptcy bad credit on his or her credit report?
I am soon going to be enrolled in a basic law enforcement training program in a few months. I am expecting to be done in November, so I hope I will be getting a job around early December.
Anyway, I have bad credit at the moment. 535 score to be precise. I have heard that it is quite difficult to become an officer with bankruptcy bad credit, so I am genuinely considering filing for bankruptcy. I have heard it takes around six months and the credit rating will be as good as new and therefore, hopefully I will be able to find a job as a police officer.
So, would anybody know if this is the ideal way to go about it?
Thanks a lot for any information.
Answers:
It will not certainly bar you from becoming a police officer, but hiring agencies look at that sort of thing from the point of view of, perhaps someone could bribe him, and so forth.
When you are in the hiring process, they might ask you about it, just be honest and up front with them. Telling the facts will go a long way in making you appear to be a decent person if they are concerned about it.
There is no possible way you’ll rebuild your credit in six months. The bankruptcy bad credit takes seven years to be cleared off of your report. You can repair it within that time, but that black cloud would still be there.
Furthermore, they made bankruptcies more difficult to get last year. It’s allegedly harder than ever now to file.
I would not think that your credit would be a critical factor in your job, though. Though I’m not a police officer, I am pretty sure that if you are adequate officer material, they are not going to reject you because of your bankruptcy bad credit score.
